Tasks and objectives
The R&H Development Engineer is accountable for China-specific Ride & Handling system integration across vehicle projects, ensuring target achievement at overall vehicle level in alignment with global Mercedes-Benz standards. Experience with chassis tuning and/or ESP/EPS integration testing is preferred.
- Derive and implement China-specific requirements in cooperation with other R&D departments.
- Communicate and drive implementation of China-specific requirements in vehicle projects and functional and module strategies.
- Define and align Ride & Handling performance targets and develop measures with relevant R&D functions.
- Develop and adjust functional testing for China-specific conditions and requirements.
- Identify customer-related parameters through field research, customer observation and feedback.
- Define and implement China requirements with Concept & Spec Books.
- Develop and align testing procedures for major use cases in China.
- Drive component development according to new function targets and ensure timely implementation of local optimizations.
- Plan and conduct Ride & Handling testing in China.
- Coordinate handling development within R&D and with suppliers.
- Plan vehicles, parts and resources for testing and organize Ride & Handling release in accordance with project plans or the MDS process.
- Coordinate tests on test benches of GRC and third parties.
- Conduct tests and measurements according to Mercedes-Benz standards and regularly report progress.
- Document, reproduce and track issues, support further analysis, and report failure-solving status in issue-tracking platforms.
Qualifications
- University degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or a similar qualification.
- Excellent driving and evaluation skills focused on Ride & Handling in mue high and mue low conditions.
- Experience in vehicle development and chassis systems, ideally in an OEM or Tier-1 environment.
- Initial to advanced experience in Ride & Handling testing, development or integration.
- Understanding of chassis systems, component interactions, vehicle architecture and communication systems.
- Experience with objective and subjective measurement and evaluation, including measurement-system setup, calibration and use.
- Ability to evaluate test vehicles in extreme driving conditions and perform issue detection, root-cause analysis and system-performance evaluation.
- Strong teamwork, communication, interpersonal, presentation, planning and organization skills.
- Self-responsible working attitude and initiative.
- Advanced MS Office skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Fluent English and Chinese are mandatory; German is an advantage.
