Objective of job

The Software Engineering team designs, builds and operates in-house digital applications for Mercedes-Benz China and drives the AI-enabled software delivery model for Tech China. The Full Stack Developer is a senior individual contributor responsible for assigned applications such as OneWeb, MiniProgram and OCC, including web and mini-program front ends, back-end services, data layers, and associated test and deployment pipelines.

The role designs and implements features end to end within the agreed target architecture and team standards, covering solution design, object and data modelling, programming, automated testing, release and implementation support. The developer works independently or in pairs in an agile, cross-functional team with product owners, architects and DevOps.

The role develops rapid prototypes, applies approved AI-assisted engineering tools and practices, and remains accountable for the quality, security and maintainability of delivered code. Solid experience in incremental and iterative software development, such as Domain-Driven Design, Extreme Programming and rapid prototyping, is expected.

Solution design and implementation

Design and implement features end to end for assigned in-house applications within the agreed architecture, security requirements and team standards.
Decide on implementation approaches, component design and technology use within approved standards.
Apply agile and approved AI-assisted engineering practices and keep delivery status and impediments visible.
Identify and resolve development issues.

Understanding customer and business need

Understand business needs and translate them with the Product Owner into clear acceptance criteria.
Build working prototypes supporting business objectives and decisions.
Work with stakeholders to ensure delivered features meet expectations.

Technology evaluation and adoption

Evaluate emerging technologies and AI-assisted development tools and deliver evaluated prototypes with documented recommendations.
Keep knowledge of development tools, platforms and practices current.

Quality, stability and production support

Maintain automated tests, review other developers’ changes and verify releases before and after deployment.
Improve code quality and performance through analysis and refactoring and resolve security findings within agreed timelines.
Respond to production incidents and perform root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, software or information engineering, or a similar qualification.

Experience

5+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years designing application-level solutions.
End-to-end production delivery across a front-end framework, back-end stack, relational database, automated testing and CI/CD deployment workflow.
Experience across all stages of the software development life cycle in agile environments.
Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and reviewing, testing and maintaining resulting code.
Experience working in a multinational or multicultural environment.

Specific knowledge

Professional proficiency in at least one back-end language used by the team: Java, Go, Python or TypeScript/Node.js.
Experience with React, Vue or a similar modern front-end framework, plus HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript/JavaScript, REST and JSON.
Relational database design and SQL; containers, cloud-native services and CI/CD pipelines.
Automated testing, code review, secure coding practices and Domain-Driven Design.
Ability to build a proof of concept quickly and write maintainable, extensible and readable code.
Good command of spoken and written Chinese and business-level English.

Preferred

Additional back-end languages, NoSQL databases and functional programming.
Mini-program or mobile development, including WeChat Mini Program, iOS or Android.
