Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced FPGA Development Engineer with real-time embedded systems development experience to lead requirements, design, and development activities for safety-critical airborne systems. The successful candidate will guide development lifecycles to satisfy DO-254 objectives, provide technical leadership, and support certification and verification teams.

This role can be onsite in Connecticut, hybrid, or fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Technically lead end-to-end FPGA development activities for embedded aerospace and defense systems from concept to integration.
  • Collaborate across systems, hardware, software, verification, and certification teams.
  • Support compliance with DO-254 and AC 20-152A objectives, including certification audits, reviews, and data package development.
  • Define interfacing between hardware and FPGA, and between software and FPGA.
  • Define, solve, and defend technical decisions while guiding implementation and conducting formal design reviews.
  • Capture device-level requirements accurately and effectively.
  • Implement requirements into conceptual and detailed designs.
  • Support development according to schedules and quality objectives while communicating technical status to stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering, science, or technical discipline.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in FPGA, programmable logic, digital hardware, or embedded systems development.
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware architectures, development processes, COTS IP selection, safety-critical hardware development, and systems engineering processes.
  • Experience with VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, or similar hardware design languages.
  • Experience with Python or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation skills.
  • Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required; dual citizenship must be disclosed.
  • Ability to travel up to approximately four weeks per year.
