Job Description

We are seeking a capable FPGA Development Engineer with experience in real-time embedded systems development to lead requirements, design, and development activities for safety-critical airborne systems.

The ideal candidate will implement development strategies aligned with development lifecycles to satisfy DO-254 objectives and provide reliable implementation support to certification and verification teams. This role can be onsite in Connecticut, hybrid, or fully remote.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform end-to-end FPGA development activities for embedded aerospace and defense systems from concept to integration.
• Collaborate across hardware, software, verification, and certification teams.
• Ensure compliance of FPGA development artifacts with DO-254 and AC 20-152A objectives.
• Understand and maintain interfaces between hardware and FPGA, and between software and FPGA.
• Ensure accurate hardware design implementation aligned with device-level requirements and maintain traceability.
• Support development efforts according to schedules and quality objectives while communicating technical status to stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering, science, or technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in FPGA, programmable logic, digital hardware, or embedded systems development.
• Strong understanding of embedded hardware architectures and development processes.
• Knowledge of VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, or similar hardware design languages.
• Knowledge of Python or equivalent scripting languages.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation skills.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship is required; dual citizenship should be disclosed.
• Ability to travel approximately up to two weeks per year.
