Job Overview
Manages and supports Facilities Engineering and fire protection projects and operations from start to finish. Develops project objectives by applying best practices and monitors project budgets and timelines.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support engineering projects from feasibility studies and project tendering through final acceptance, design, and construction activities.
- Design, communicate, and implement project plans.
- Monitor project progress and performance against project plans and manage PCO/RFQ requests.
- Analyze drawings and communicate discrepancies to vendors for corrections.
- Prepare engineering designs and work specifications.
- Conduct project meetings and prepare status reports.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends.
- Resolve operational problems and minimize delays using appropriate solutions or improved approaches.
- Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements, assigning personnel, and reviewing contractor bids.
- Support relationships with internal and external Mercedes-Benz partners and worldwide external business partners.
- Provide input to and reporting for project teams and committees.
- Coordinate the work of junior team members when needed.
- Own and manage site fire protection systems, including operation, testing, maintenance, and modifications in accordance with NFPA requirements.
- Maintain, implement, and audit fire preventative maintenance documents and operating procedures in the iPRO system.
- Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related area.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience.
- SAP key-user proficiency; iPRO preferred.
- Technical understanding of construction and facilities maintenance.
- NFPA expertise, including NFPA 13, 25, 72, and 101.
- Ability to work independently and build complex relationships.
- Strong coordination and communication skills with multiple parties and at all levels.
- Strong computer skills, including Windows programs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a complex, diverse group.
