Tasks

Job Objective

• Develop exterior components such as opening roofs and glass roofs with roller systems.
• Develop roof components with suppliers and verify results in collaboration with R&D headquarters and through vehicle test programs.
• Ensure exterior roof concepts meet customer needs and contribute to industrial competitiveness.
• Coordinate and realize industrialization work for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars.
• Support change management, plant issues, and after-sales part issue resolution for exterior parts.

Task Description

• Develop China-specific parts and manage localization projects from design freeze through part release and handover to series production.
• Evaluate and verify localized part maturity as the qualified components responsible person in China and serve as a technical contact for R&D Germany and BBAC.
• Support pilot runs, try-outs, and series production at the plant with technical expertise.
• Support the timely introduction of local and imported parts for current and future Mercedes-Benz projects in China.
• Work with product planning, quality, logistics, and other cross-functional departments to establish milestones and coordinate activities.
• Participate in technical and project meetings and present results.
• Fulfill homologation requirements and successfully introduce new parts to the Chinese market.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience with vehicle or mechanical components.
• Solid CAD knowledge; Siemens NX preferred, or very good knowledge of CATIA or Pro/E with willingness to learn new CAD systems.
• Technical knowledge of exterior or electrical components preferred.
• Familiarity with development and production processes.
• Native Chinese speaker with fluent English; German preferred.
• Strong planning, organizational, supplier management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong commitment to automobiles and a self-responsible, proactive working attitude.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to prepare and support supplier launches.
