Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Development Engineer with experience in real-time embedded software development to lead requirements, design, and development activities for safety-critical airborne systems.

The ideal candidate will be capable of receiving systems requirements and guiding development lifecycles to satisfy DO-178 objectives. This individual will provide technical leadership across development activities and input to certification and verification teams.

The role can be onsite in Connecticut, hybrid, or fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end software development activities for embedded aerospace and defense systems from concept to integration.
  • Collaborate across systems, hardware, software, verification, and certification teams.
  • Support certification audits, reviews, and data package development to ensure compliance with DO-178 objectives.
  • Define, solve, and defend technical decisions while guiding implementation and conducting formal design reviews.
  • Capture high-level and low-level requirements accurately and effectively.
  • Implement requirements into design and code.
  • Support development efforts in alignment with schedules and quality objectives while communicating technical status to stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related science, engineering, or mathematics discipline.
  • Strong experience in embedded software development.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience with real-time embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of real-time embedded systems, real-time operating systems, safety-critical software development, C/C++ or similar embedded languages, and Python or equivalent scripting languages.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation skills.
  • Strong communication and technical leadership skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required. Dual citizenship should be disclosed.
  • Ability to travel approximately up to four weeks per year.
