Who You’ll Work With

You will report to the Senior Director of Cloud Runtime and Control Plane Engineering and manage two specialized engineering teams. You’ll collaborate with cloud infrastructure consumers across the organization, including development teams, application owners, business units, and other infrastructure teams.

Who We Are Looking For

We’re seeking an experienced engineering leader to drive the Cloud Runtime and Control Plane Engineering team in Nike’s India Technology Center. You will help develop Kubernetes-based control plane foundations and operate critical control planes enabling managed cloud compute, network, storage, and edge functionality.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with proven leadership skills to deliver agility, availability, resiliency, security, and performance. This role emphasizes operational excellence and automation to reduce toil and minimize human error.

Key Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • BS/MS degree in a technical discipline such as computer science or electrical engineering.
  • Experience leading specialized engineering teams through major technology transitions, particularly in cloud networking and compute governance.
  • Track record of building and scaling platform engineering organizations with a focus on self-service capabilities.
  • Experience partnering with infrastructure consumers, security teams, and technical product management.
  • Ability to develop talent, manage budgets, and remove delivery blockers in complex, multi-team environments.
  • Experience working with globally dispersed teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Deep AWS expertise, including advanced VPC design, subnetting, routing, and security groups.
  • Extensive experience with Azure integration and networking architectures.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Terraform and Crossplane for multi-cloud resource management.
  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes cluster management, networking, and application deployment patterns.
  • Strong background in CI/CD pipeline design using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and GitHub.
  • Experience with Platform Engineering, DevOps, Configuration Management, CDN, DNS, containerization, edge platforms, and Infrastructure as a Service technologies.
  • Experience migrating on-premises infrastructure to cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Experience establishing software engineering methodologies for global, 24x7, high-volume, high-availability environments using metrics-based KPIs.
  • Experience developing roadmaps for availability, resiliency, and performance.
  • Experience implementing Site Reliability Engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a strong sense of ownership focused on customer and user success.

What You’ll Work On

  • Define and execute the technical vision for Nike’s cloud infrastructure platform with counterparts in other regions.
  • Translate business strategies into strategic technical direction and delivery plans.
  • Present vision, strategies, roadmaps, and progress to senior and executive leadership.
  • Lead and grow a local engineering team of individual contributors and managers.
  • Drive transformation from unmanaged to managed cloud resources using declarative technologies.
  • Implement secure, efficient, and compliant cloud governance policies and automation.
  • Create self-service platforms and automation capabilities through Platform Engineering and DevOps practices.
  • Foster operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, and continuous improvement.
  • Architect lifecycle management solutions using Terraform, Kubernetes operators, and Crossplane, including for compute, network, storage, DNS, and CDN resources.
  • Build multi-cloud control plane architectures and Kubernetes-based container orchestration platforms.
  • Collaborate with Architecture and Product Management to develop platform capabilities.
  • Implement observability tooling and security-first cloud governance frameworks.
  • Manage CI/CD automation through Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and GitHub integrations.
  • Assess technology trends and make strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure roadmap delivery through cross-functional problem-solving.
  • Leverage AI technologies to reduce toil.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call operations and drive operational excellence.
