Job Purpose

The DC Operations Manager is responsible for operating the entire data centre and supporting other departments to ensure the smooth running of the data centre organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage major electrical system and shutdown maintenance, including UPS, switchgear, and generators.
  • Supervise and attend maintenance of electrical systems according to approved schedules, including nighttime and public holiday work.
  • Present and demonstrate data centre operations, processes, and policies to customers.
  • Manage installation projects, follow up with vendors, monitor implementation, and manage new customer installations.
  • Prepare, review, and approve MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Review planned maintenance through CAFM, identify risks and impacts, and prepare mitigation and rollback plans.
  • Prepare spare parts, PPE, and tools required for preventive maintenance.
  • Implement PPMs according to SOPs and MOPs and maintain quality checklists.
  • Monitor and report on HSE, calibration, predictive maintenance, equipment condition, customer notifications, and data logging.
  • Ensure PAT and third-party test certificates remain valid.
  • Raise and implement approved change requests.
  • Manage feasibility studies and RFIs for new customers.
  • Review and develop data centre processes and policies.
  • Prepare periodic operational, power consumption, and monthly reports.
  • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, follow up with vendors, and maintain records.
  • Maintain capacity management reports for power and cooling.
  • Ensure staff, facilities teams, and security follow access processes.
  • Deliver training, QHSE, and toolbox programs.
  • Inspect and validate work completion, HSE, and quality control.
  • Conduct internal audits of processes and SLAs.
  • Act as backup for the Senior Operations Manager.

Skills Required

  • In-depth knowledge of data centre operations and processes.
  • Recent hands-on knowledge of server and network installation and troubleshooting across multiple vendors.
  • Experience in incident management and data mining or analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of security and customer data protection.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, confrontation management, commitment, and coaching skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Project management skills.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10 to 15 years of customer, vendor, and contractor management experience.
  • Knowledge of data centre MEP infrastructure, including power, cooling, and facilities management.
  • Experience in IT security.
  • Strong technical background, preferably with practical hands-on experience.
  • Ability to make quick decisions in emergencies.
  • Availability 24x7x365 and on call when required.
