The role builds, operates, and improves commonly required capabilities to create and run applications in a modern way. It supports and consults business IT teams on the use of platforms and services so they can focus on delivering value at high speed.
Key Responsibilities
- Specialist advice: Maintain specialist knowledge, provide detailed advice, recognize knowledge boundaries, and collaborate with other specialists.
- Emerging technology monitoring: Monitor emerging technologies, assess potential impacts and opportunities, and contribute to technology road mapping and knowledge sharing.
- Programming/software engineering: Design, code, verify, test, document, amend, and refactor complex programs, scripts, and integration software services. Apply agreed standards and participate in reviews.
- System design: Design components using appropriate modelling techniques, evaluate alternatives and trade-offs, create design views, prototype system behavior, and produce detailed design specifications.
- Database design: Maintain specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, assess object and data structure changes, implement physical database designs, and support business intelligence and analytics.
- Testing: Define test conditions, design test cases and scripts, analyze results, and identify issues and risks.
- Systems integration and build: Define software modules, produce builds, configure environments, conduct integration tests, diagnose faults, and report outcomes.
- Porting/software configuration: Configure and test platform-specific software versions and identify potential improvements.
- Service level management: Monitor service delivery against service level agreements and initiate actions to maintain or improve service levels.
- Release and deployment: Assess release components, support scheduling, carry out builds and tests, administer release tools and methods, and maintain release procedures.
- People or resource management, if required: Provide input on hiring and transition decisions, support employee development, allocate work, monitor workload, and set aligned targets.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of database concepts and technologies, including RDBMS, NoSQL, and specialized databases.
- Experience with database infrastructure in public or private cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.
- Understanding of networking, monitoring, HADR, replication, backup and recovery, and database migrations.
- Hands-on experience with platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, AWS RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, or DocumentDB.
- Basic understanding of database security principles, including encryption, access management, and auditing.
- Experience in performance tuning, including SQL optimization and resource utilization.
- Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server in database environments.
- Interest in automation, emerging technologies, and AI-driven solution adoption.
- Collaborative approach with strong communication and stakeholder interaction skills.
- Relevant database or cloud certifications are a plus.

Global IT, relevant business functions including GOPS, Finance, HR, Brand Marketing, Wholesale/Retail, HR Management, and Controlling.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four-year college or university degree focused on Business Administration, IT, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient spoken and written English.
- At least five years of IT experience.
- Two years of experience in a relevant area.
- One year of team management experience.
- Understanding of different cultures and experience participating in projects with people from other functions or markets.
