The role
The role is fully remote and will operate within the Atos Risk and Assurance Directorate, supporting Aegon and Royal London account mandates. The Data Protection Manager, Atos BTS, reports to the Head of Data Protection, Atos BTS (Conduct and Compliance), and provides second-line assurance, proactive expert subject-matter support, and technical advice to business operations.
Atos will operate as Data Processor in delivering outsourcing services to current client mandates. Data Controller responsibilities rest with the clients, while Atos deploys assurance activities to ensure processes and controls operate compliantly.
Key responsibilities
- Build trusted working relationships with operational and change teams and provide technical subject-matter advice.
- Advise on data protection breaches, develop remedial actions, and track remediation.
- Produce and maintain data protection policies and procedures for Atos BTS.
- Promote and enhance the data protection governance culture within BTS.
- Perform assurance assessments and gap analyses against data protection regulatory requirements.
- Monitor compliance with data protection and privacy legislation in an environment handling significant amounts of personal data.
- Apply DPA and FOIA rules and risk-based techniques to assess compliance requirements, mitigations, and weaknesses.
- Support operational staff and management in assessing data protection regulatory risks and controls, including DSAR and FOIA requests.
- Deliver data protection and regulatory risk education and develop training for stakeholders.
- Liaise with client data protection representatives and hold regular joint governance meetings.
Skills and qualifications
- Expert knowledge of the data protection regulatory risk environment and regulatory bodies.
- At least three years of experience interpreting data protection regulatory requirements in the financial services industry.
- Experience building relationships with, influencing, and challenging stakeholders.
- DP Practitioner Certificate, ISEB, or equivalent data protection qualification.
- Expert knowledge of national and European data protection laws, GDPR, and the UK Data Protection and Digital Information Bill.
- Experience conducting data privacy compliance assurance reviews and managing information and data security activities.
- Experience developing and managing information and data security assurance programmes, including third parties.
- Ability to provide clear advice and direction amid ambiguity, competing demands, and short deadlines.
