The role focuses on monitoring data pipelines, managing incidents, coordinating releases and production handovers, and ensuring data products are well-governed, scalable and operationally ready.

Working closely with Data Engineering and Platform teams, you’ll play a key role in delivering trusted data solutions while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.

What you’ll get

This is a hybrid opportunity, offering 2–3 days working from the office. Benefits include healthcare, pension, potential bonus, 27 days of leave plus bank holidays, optional purchase of five additional days, Tax Saver Tickets, a fitness centre and a subsidised cafeteria.

What you’ll do

  • Support the operation and reliability of Primark’s modern data platform, helping manage Databricks, dbt Cloud and Azure data services.
  • Monitor and maintain critical data pipelines and platform services, proactively identifying failures, delays, data quality issues and operational risks.
  • Coordinate incident triage, escalation and resolution to minimise business impact.
  • Coordinate releases, deployments and production handovers, including environment readiness, promotion activities, change governance, operational checklists, release schedules and service readiness documentation.
  • Maintain runbooks, support guides, monitoring dashboards, service catalogues and reporting on platform health, SLA performance, deployment activity and support trends.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Platform, Cloud, Security, BAU and SIAM teams on access management, environment support, platform issues, service reviews and continuous improvement.
  • Support the migration from Teradata to Databricks by validating production readiness, improving monitoring and automation, and embedding modern DataOps practices.

What you’ll bring

  • 2–4 years’ experience in Data Operations, Application Support, Platform Support, Data Engineering Support or a similar operational role.
  • Understanding of modern data platforms and DataOps practices, with exposure to Azure DevOps, Databricks, dbt Cloud, Azure data services, SQL, Python, ETL/ELT processes, job scheduling, monitoring, observability and deployment automation.
  • Experience supporting production environments and service operations, including monitoring, alerting, incident management, ticketing systems, release management, environment management, change governance and enterprise support processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate incidents, identify root causes, assess business impact and drive issues through to resolution.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical, governance, security, analytics and business teams.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented and continuous-improvement-focused approach, with experience maintaining operational documentation, runbooks, handover materials and support processes.
