Purpose

As a member of the store management team, assists the Store Manager in ensuring all operational, business, and personnel targets are achieved for the store. Oversees the daily operation of the store and assures compliance with all company policies and government legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the Store Manager in managing day-to-day operations and achieving key performance indicators and profit and loss expectations.
  • Communicates and demonstrates adidas brand values, attitude, and culture.
  • Ensures consistent implementation of corporate programs, initiatives, strategies, policies, and seasonal programs.
  • Assists with succession, recruiting, hiring, and training plans.
  • Develops staff through performance feedback, coaching, training, and fostering a team environment.
  • Sets clear expectations, supports accountability, and helps establish goals focused on business success.
  • Supports training and execution across business operations, sales and customer service, and visual merchandising.
  • Assists with recordkeeping related to applicants, new hires, payroll, performance appraisals, salary reviews, counselling, disciplinary actions, and employee separations.
  • Monitors competition, inventory levels, styling selections, wage costs, and overall expense control.
  • Maintains accuracy in cash management and supports shrink control and store security.
  • Ensures adherence to POS system integrity, company policies, employment standards, health and safety guidelines, and visual merchandising standards.
  • Maintains the building and premises in a safe, organized, and clean manner.
  • Works closely with the Store Manager and other retail managers and performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient retail operational, selling, fiscal, and business management skills.
  • Coaching and talent management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize resources, communicate effectively, present information, solve problems, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, statutory holidays, and additional hours during peak sales periods.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 12 kg and occasionally lift or move up to 25 kg.

Qualifications

College or university degree and one year of retail experience, preferably in the sporting apparel and footwear industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior management and keyed experience is preferred.
