Objective of the job
Design Mercedes-Benz next-generation ADAS/AD system functions for the China market together with R&D teams at headquarters and suppliers. Own ADAS/AD base-layer function requirements and specifications, lead the ASPICE process and related documentation, coordinate development and feature rollout, approve function releases, and lead issue resolution.
Tasks
- Design next-generation ADAS/AD system functions for the China market and collaborate with German R&D counterparts and suppliers.
- Understand ADAS/AD strategy and technology, evaluate China-specific use cases, assess adaptations, and design system architecture.
- Take ownership of ADAS/AD base-layer functions, including camera, radar, LiDAR, USS, IMU sensors, and the AD domain controller.
- Define system requirements, lead reviews, maintain ASPICE SYS.1–SYS.3 documentation, and track traceability with software teams.
- Plan benchmarking and market-analysis activities and provide assessment results.
- Define feature rollout plans and delivery milestones, coordinate with project management and carline teams, and provide status and release reports.
- Monitor software releases, support SYS.4–SYS.6 validation processes, participate in vehicle testing, and judge function release maturity.
- Act as the first contact for issues, perform initial analysis of critical problems, and coordinate tickets with the relevant competency teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Vehicle Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant experience in vehicle ADAS fields at an OEM or Tier 1; SOP experience is preferred.
- Good understanding of embedded software development and architecture.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and scripting languages such as Python.
- Experience with CP/AP AUTOSAR projects, platform health monitoring, state management, error management, global time synchronization, and startup and shutdown processes.
- Familiarity with ADAS L2+, L2++, and preferably L3 or higher functions.
- NVIDIA platform development experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with CANoe, DiVa, vFlash, CANalyzer, VN1640, and similar tools.
- Strong planning, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel within China and overseas.
- Fluent English is required; German is a plus.
