Tasks
Conduct quality planning and problem resolution activities with the local supply base. Evaluate sources, manage supplier development, guide suppliers in quality activities, and perform process audits.
Coordinate first sampling with suppliers and, where necessary, third-party testing laboratories for new or changed parts. Coordinate with Engineering, Purchasing, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Mercedes Car Group. Conduct special tasks and maintain IT systems.
General
- Collaborate with peers and Commodity Groups.
- Prepare relevant data and support SPRP reporting.
- Contribute to CIP.
Supplier Evaluation and Release / ABC Classification of Parts
- Prepare and participate in source evaluations.
- Perform plausibility checks and verify development measures with the audit leader and, where necessary, third parties.
Supplier Development / Tier-n Management
- Support supplier development and work with suppliers and, where necessary, tier-n suppliers, on advanced quality planning for selected projects.
- Support problem resolution activities at suppliers when quality issues arise.
Preventive Supplier and Maturity Management / FMEAs
- Plan, organize, and conduct round tables with cross-functional teams to identify maturity-level problems early.
- Assess quality-related parameters throughout the product creation process and communicate results.
- Review and release supplier FMEAs with Engineering support.
- Control corrective measures and monitor their effectiveness with suppliers.
Production Process and Product Release
- Plan, coordinate, and execute process audits as the responsible lead auditor.
- Issue audit reports and control improvement measures, corrective actions, and their effectiveness.
- Set up sampling schedules and obtain supplier commitments for defined milestones.
- Monitor first out-of-series tooling-produced parts where necessary.
- Perform or coordinate external sampling for dimensions and material properties according to MBST 13.
- Coordinate functional and performance tests with Engineering and compile relevant documents.
Q3.0 Series Production / MQI
- Report part readiness for launch to the management team.
- Act as a specialist for production issues.
- Provide lessons learned from current series production to improve future projects.
- Coordinate product quality requirements during development.
- Act as MQI (Module Quality Engineer) for RD China-designed parts.
- Release parts for aftersales and export business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
- Quality auditor accreditation or certification preferred.
- At least 4 years of automotive industry or comparable experience; quality and manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with PPAP requirements, including Control Plans and FMEAs.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities.
- Written and spoken English required; German preferred.
- Interpersonal, problem-solving, team-orientation, and computer skills required, including MS Office, Copilot 365, and AI tools.
- Knowledge of ISO/TS16949, VDA 6.3, ASPICE, ADAS, and smart cabin technology.
