Shape the future today. At Mercedes-Benz Vans, interdisciplinary teams are developing the mobility of tomorrow. The Strategic Projects Intern supports factory planning and engineering activities and helps ongoing projects run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Support planning, scheduling, and execution of brownfield construction and engineering initiatives associated with plant transformation and new project introduction.
- Track project milestones, budgets, risks, issues, and dependencies for accurate project controls and reporting.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Plant Planning, Production, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and create actionable project plans.
- Develop project schedules, dependency maps, critical-path analyses, and executive status reports.
- Create advanced Excel models, Power BI dashboards, automated reporting tools, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Analyze project, construction, and operational data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance gaps.
- Support cost tracking, forecasting, resource planning, new project introduction, project documentation, and readiness activities.
- Present project updates, dashboard insights, and recommendations to project teams and leadership.
Preferred skills
- Project KPI tracking, including timelines, funding, and processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI skills.
- Knowledge of risk management and critical-path scheduling.
- Interest in AI workflow creation, including Microsoft Copilot.
Qualifications
Applicants should have graduated within the past 12 months or be working toward a bachelor's or master's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills are required.

- Hourly pay rate: $20.00 per hour.
- This is an on-site position in Charleston, South Carolina.
