Purpose and overall relevance for the organization

Drive brand and consumer experience by managing a high-volume, strategically positioned Brand Flagship store that represents the adidas brand and product in the most impactful way.

Work closely with Market and Global teams to shape the strategic direction of the Brand Flagship concept in the Market. Lead the Store Management Team in providing an outstanding consumer experience while maintaining high operational and brand standards.

  • Drive store profitability by meeting or exceeding store sales and profit targets.
  • Ensure compliance through proper execution of established policies, procedures, initiatives, and directives.
  • Drive inventory shrinkage strategies and monitoring processes to minimize inventory shrinkage and ensure accurate stock management.
  • Build a productive team through training and development, including succession planning for all existing positions.
  • Act as an ambassador of the company values through daily interactions.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver an exceptional consumer experience tailored to the Brand Flagship through outstanding execution of global brand and retail operational standards.
  • Foster a positive, active, authentic, and consumer-centric store culture.
  • Understand the strategic importance of the Brand Flagship and create brand advocacy.
  • Develop and lead execution of a visionary business plan for the Brand Flagship.
  • Provide input and feedback to departments and global teams.
  • Coach leadership teams and associates to drive sales, meet KPIs, manage expenses, increase profitability, and drive brand advocacy.
  • Partner with Store Management Teams to hire, develop, and build a high-performing team.
  • Hold P&L accountability for the Brand Flagship store.
  • Foster collaboration with global and Market organizations.
  • Develop action plans with the Line Manager and communicate product and operational needs and opportunities.
  • Ensure Visual Merchandising and In-Store Communication standards are consistently executed.
  • Implement global programs, initiatives, and strategies.
  • Lead performance management, succession, recruiting, hiring, and development activities.
  • Promote a high-performance culture by setting expectations, holding employees accountable, creating an effective work environment, and setting goals.
  • Oversee training and execution across business, operations, sales and customer service, and visual merchandising.
  • Ensure employees receive foundational and seasonal brand and product knowledge training.
  • Complete recordkeeping for applicants, new hires, payroll, performance appraisals, salary reviews, counselling, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Identify and develop strong performers with potential for growth along the Retail Field Career Ladder.

Key relationships

Consumers, peers, key retail support functions including Marketing Activations, Visual Merchandising, Operations, vendors, and support functions.

  • Passion for the adidas brand and sport.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, POS systems, and other computer software.

Required education and experience

  • Matric Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant market experience.
  • Leadership experience in a branded organisation creating a brand experience.
  • Successful leadership of a team of 50 or more people.
  • Geographical mobility.
  • Advanced numeracy, literacy, and strong communication skills.
