Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

  • Act as a General Manager by creating and executing go-to-market plans for the Business Unit to drive brand and business success within guidelines set by Global Business Units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and develop a 3–5 year category ambition plan based on adidas Korea’s ambition and the overall adidas BU process, in collaboration with Global.
  • Provide BU leadership within the category across related functions and departments on vision, strategic objectives, actions, and financial targets.
  • Deliver financial expectations set out in the BU / IBP across all channels and countries.
  • Set and monitor the Korea pricing corridor for the category range.
  • Define and implement Korea country and channel allocation for globally allocated products.
  • Define category CI and lead communication with Global BU to prioritize Korea needs.
  • Deliver powerful, compelling, commercial, and viable range and concept selection for Korea to support the overall brand strategy, purpose, and direction.
  • Align with Korea Brand Activation on category MWB and allocation by key concepts.
  • Own BU category forecasting within IBP across all channels.
  • Lead creation needs, validate SMU requests for Korea, and leverage CCT and CCS to fulfill Korea needs in support of the SBP.
  • Take responsibility for category sell-through across Korea, develop performance-tracking dashboards, and share updates with Global BU.
  • Drive performance and development culture through the organization’s people values.
  • Drive employee engagement and lead by example.
  • Identify and develop high-potential talent to support the team’s succession plan.
  • Provide cross-functional experiences to identified high-potential talent inside and outside the team.
  • Manage allocated category OPEX and T&E to fulfill business priorities.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Market P&L for the category, including net sales, OTB, margin, and contribution.
  • Sell-out across all channels.
  • Achievement of key initiatives in the 3–5 year category plan.
  • Brand and key category NPS.
  • Execution excellence in brand concepts and stories.
  • Market share.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to develop and implement strategy.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities, especially managing a diverse team, including remote management.
  • Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with senior stakeholders in a global matrix organization.
  • Broad marketing experience with a distinct track record of success and expert merchandising knowledge.
  • Strong cross-functional and stakeholder management experience across commercial and support functions and organizational levels.
  • Strong industry knowledge across footwear, apparel, and accessories and across all BUs.
  • Expert understanding of Korean market consumers, accounts, economic environment, and commercial needs.

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in merchandising/product, marketing, sales, or retail required.
  • University degree in Business or equivalent professional experience, ideally in Merchandising/AP, Sales, and/or Marketing.
  • Previous experience managing a global matrix organization required.
  • Sporting goods industry experience required.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Fluent in the local language, if applicable, preferred.
  • Willingness to travel upwards of 20% of the time.
