As a SQL Specialist, you will support large-scale customer infrastructure transition and transformation projects involving customer infrastructure systems and associated software. You will help ensure services meet project requirements and provide Microsoft SQL Server support, implementation, deployment, troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Support, implement, and deploy Microsoft SQL Server.
- Investigate and resolve highly technical problems.
- Plan and undertake agreed software and hardware changes.
- Assess user requirements and produce cost-effective technical specifications.
- Install and test SQL Server software and associated products.
- Contribute to new and modified system implementations.
- Maintain infrastructure planning and installation methodologies.
- Produce systems documentation according to Atos processes and standards.
- Follow ITIL change management processes.
- Monitor infrastructure services and identify improvements and preventative maintenance.
BAU DBA responsibilities
- Develop and sustain the SQL Server data warehouse.
- Install and configure SQL Server versions 2005 through 2017.
- Apply patches and hot fixes.
- Resolve blocking, disk space, performance, backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery issues.
- Manage users and permissions.
- Create, schedule, and troubleshoot jobs.
- Deploy production scripts and restore databases between production and test environments.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot replication and disaster recovery activities.
Essential criteria
- Microsoft SQL Server project experience, including infrastructure implementation and deployment.
- Strong understanding of SQL infrastructures, including SQL Server 2008–2019.
- Experience patching and upgrading SQL versions.
- At least 3 years of experience setting up and maintaining production Microsoft SQL Server instances.
- Strong SQL database performance tuning, failover clustering, log shipping, mirroring, backup, recovery, replication, DTS/SSIS, and monitoring skills.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure transition and transformation projects.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Customer and delivery focus.
Desirable criteria
- Microsoft certification.
- Knowledge of Oracle and DB2 LUW.
- Knowledge of Windows Server configuration.
