Context

Bull is looking for a Senior High-Performance Storage Architect to join its Solution, Design & Architecture team. The role focuses on designing, sizing and integrating large-scale storage infrastructures for HPC and AI projects in a pre-sales environment.

Your Mission

Own storage-related topics throughout the bid lifecycle and design scalable, resilient and cost-efficient storage solutions for multi-petabyte HPC and AI environments. Collaborate with compute and networking architects and technology partners to develop technical proposals and present storage architectures to customers and executive stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, sizing and technical validation of storage solutions for HPC and AI opportunities.
• Design distributed storage infrastructures for demanding scientific and AI workloads.
• Evaluate technologies from Bull’s strategic storage partner ecosystem.
• Define architectures using parallel filesystems, flash technologies and NVMe-over-Fabrics.
• Optimize end-to-end I/O performance using technologies such as GPUDirect Storage and NVMe-oF.
• Collaborate with compute, networking and solution architects.
• Produce sizing studies, architecture documentation and solution recommendations.
• Contribute to technical proposals and commercial competitiveness.
• Participate in customer workshops, technical discussions and architecture reviews.
• Defend solutions during presentations to executives, research institutions, government agencies and defense organizations.
• Maintain relationships with technology partners and monitor market innovations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Extensive experience designing, sizing, administering or architecting high-performance storage infrastructures.
• Experience supporting complex HPC, AI or large-scale enterprise infrastructure projects.
• Ability to translate business and technical requirements into scalable storage architectures.
• Strong communication skills with executives, partners and technical experts.
• Expertise in distributed high-performance storage environments and parallel filesystems such as Lustre and IBM Storage Scale (GPFS).
• Experience with AI-oriented platforms such as VAST Data, WEKA or equivalent technologies.
• Knowledge of storage controllers, server architectures, high-density disk systems and flash/NVMe technologies.
• Expertise with NVMe-over-Fabrics, Linux administration and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of InfiniBand and high-speed Ethernet.
• Experience with storage sizing, performance analysis and capacity planning.

Preferred Knowledge

• GPUDirect Storage technologies.
• Large government, research or defense projects.
• Hybrid HPC/AI infrastructures.
• Procurement and tendering processes for major technology programs.

Soft Skills and Languages

Security and Environment

Applicants must be eligible to obtain national security clearances up to Secret / Top Secret level, subject to applicable regulations. The role is based in Les Clayes-sous-Bois or Angers, France, or other strategic Bull/Eviden locations, with occasional travel in France and internationally. Remote work follows a hybrid model. Start date is as soon as possible.
