The mission of the Mercedes-Benz Manhattan Shop Foreperson is to plan, organize, lead, and control the flow of service work through the workshop in a professional, timely, and efficient manner while ensuring quality repairs at a fair cost to the customer.
The role offers the best dealership experience through the ongoing pursuit of excellence and quality that symbolizes the Mercedes-Benz brand worldwide. The Shop Foreperson must provide a consistently outstanding brand and customer experience through preparation, attitude, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technician group by example and encouragement, with strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and an excellent work ethic.
- Review CDK to ensure technicians are punching on repair orders properly, flagging time appropriately, and progressing through repair work daily.
- Use knowledge of tools and equipment to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems in Mercedes-Benz models.
- Review technician production performance daily, run and analyze relevant reports, and investigate and correct production issues.
- Interact with customers by explaining repair work, conducting road tests, and answering questions about their Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
- Mentor and teach technician trainees, interns, and line technicians on diagnosis techniques, available tools and resources, repair best practices, and efficiency measures.
- Monitor technician behavior and administer discipline when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and ensure technicians do the same.
- Commute into and out of Manhattan/New York City daily.
- Dispatch work throughout the shop.
Qualifications
- High school diploma with post-secondary technical training.
- At least 7 years of experience repairing vehicles.
- Valid NYS inspection license.
- Ability to work Saturdays and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Valid driver's license.
