We are looking for a Senior Mainframe CICS/MQ Administrator to join our Mainframe Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, support, and optimization of IBM CICS and MQ environments running on IBM z/OS platforms.
The role focuses on ensuring high availability, stability, security, and performance of mission-critical online transaction processing systems while supporting customers and internal delivery teams. The position requires participation in incident management, change implementation, and continuous service improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain CICS TS and MQ subsystems on z/OS.
- Manage PTF applications, release upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance for both environments and related third-party software.
- Design, implement, and support CICS and MQ environments to ensure continuous availability.
- Create and customize new CICS regions tailored to business requirements.
- Customize, proactively monitor, and troubleshoot CICS and MQ environments.
- Perform deep-dive analysis of system dumps and traces to identify root causes.
- Analyze and enhance the performance and stability of CICS and MQ environments.
- Plan, script, and execute disaster recovery procedures for CICS and MQ environments and participate in regular DR testing.
- Provide rotational 24/7 on-call support for critical production systems.
- Prepare technical documentation.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer for CICS and MQ on z/OS.
- Extensive experience with mainframe performance monitors such as BMC AMI Ops and CA Sysview.
- Strong understanding of CICS and MQ architectural concepts.
- Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to handle high-pressure, critical-impact outages while communicating clearly with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of change and incident management processes.
