Senior Java Engineer with GCP

Technical Skills

• Strong programming background with a minimum of 10+ years’ experience developing highly scalable and efficient applications using Java.
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Application containerisation using Docker and container orchestration services using Kubernetes on GCP (GKE) and/or Azure (AKS).
• Pub/Sub event handling backbone using GCP Pub/Sub and Kafka.
• Composable architectures using domain modelling, services and micro-services, leveraging techniques such as service mesh using Istio and circuit-breaker patterns.
• MFE frameworks leveraging Webpack 5 with module federation.
• Database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL, using cloud-based implementations such as Postgres, MongoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.
• Strong CI/CD pipeline automation with quality gates using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Postman, RestAssured, Gatling, JMeter, SonarQube, ESLint, and Selenium.
• Observability and insights using tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent toolsets.
• Documentation as code using tools such as Backstage.io and plugins connected to GitHub source repositories and README files.
• Agile methods.
• Knowledge of coding standards and source control techniques.
• Strong communication skills and a flexible attitude, with the ability to perform under pressure and work well within a team.
• Excellent test script and documentation skills.
• Experience in more than one service delivery function, such as development, support, software design, or environment configuration.
• Knowledge and experience of a broad range of technologies or expertise in a single technology.
• Ability to translate business goals into technology solutions.
• Experience working in a matrix-managed environment with mixed teams, including contractors and outsourced vendors.
