Adidas is seeking a Senior Designer - Technical Design Development (m/f/d) to lead the development of global Wholesale environments, design standards, fixture systems, and technical solutions.
Organizational Context
The Wholesale Design & Development team, within Global Store Design at adidas, defines and evolves physical brand experiences across the global Wholesale landscape. The team develops design concepts, technical standards, and scalable solutions across diverse retail formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of the adidas Global Wholesale Design & Development framework.
- Develop Wholesale environments, fixture systems, shop-in-shop concepts, and branded spaces.
- Translate consumer insights, market trends, and business needs into scalable design solutions.
- Integrate design and engineering principles to ensure concepts are executable, durable, scalable, and commercially viable.
- Develop technical specifications, standards, implementation guidelines, technical drawings, and design packages.
- Oversee prototyping, testing, validation, and the transition from concept through implementation.
- Collaborate with Sales, Key Account Management, Engineering, Brand Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Operations, suppliers, agencies, and manufacturing partners.
- Support rollout planning, execution, quality assurance, training, and knowledge management.
- Drive improvements in speed to market, sustainability, quality, and cost effectiveness.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership, organizational, stakeholder management, influencing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Expertise in wholesale, retail, experiential, architectural, industrial, or environmental design.
- Understanding of design engineering, product development, manufacturing, sourcing, and implementation.
- Advanced 2D and 3D design skills using tools such as SketchUp, VectorWorks, Rhino, 3ds Max, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of materials, construction methods, fixture manufacturing, sustainability, circular design, and responsible sourcing.
- Fluent English; additional languages are an advantage.
Required Education and Experience
- Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in retail, wholesale, design development, engineering, branded environments, or related fields.
- Experience leading concept development through engineering, implementation, and market execution.
- Experience across multiple international markets and with external agencies, suppliers, manufacturers, consultants, and development partners.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to balance creative ambition with technical feasibility and commercial objectives.
