We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and optimise enterprise-grade data platforms and scalable data pipelines supporting analytics, reporting and advanced data use cases. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in GCP, Apache airflow and modern data engineering practices, with the ability to work across architecture, engineering delivery and operational support in a complex enterprise environment.
Key accountabilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable batch and near real-time data pipelines using GCP Cloud Composer, Apache Airflow and GCP-native services.
- Build robust end-to-end ETL/ELT workflows integrating multiple internal and external data sources.
- Develop reusable, performant and production-ready data engineering solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
- Implement and optimize data models supporting analytical and reporting use cases.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, observability and consistency across the full data lifecycle.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve production incidents related to data pipelines and platform performance.
- Drive optimization initiatives for python (metadata driven) airflow frameworks, storage usage and processing efficiency.
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, product owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to data platform architecture decisions, engineering standards and best practices.
- Support CI/CD implementation, release processes and automation for data engineering deployments.
- Ensure compliance with governance, security and enterprise data management standards.
Required experience
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering within enterprise environments.
- Very strong Python coding skills, hands-on experience with e2e airflow framework development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Airflow.
- Strong SQL and data modelling knowledge.
- Advanced experience with Bigquery or equivalent big data system.
- Solid experience with GCP data ecosystem services or equivalent, Hands-on experience with Cloud Composer preferred or similar distributed systems.
- Experience building and supporting production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Strong understanding of data quality controls, monitoring and operational support.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimisation of distributed data workloads (i.e. Bigquery performance tuning - slot usage, SP optimization, etc).
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and DevOps delivery models.
