Retail Store Sales Associate I - Edmonton, 2012, Alberta, Canada

Purpose

Assist customers in determining which products and services best fit their needs and interest them in merchandise. Promote the sale of merchandise by meeting or exceeding productivity standards, maintain awareness of product requirements and promotions, maintain inventory, provide customer service, and complete accurate sales transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting adidas merchandise and provide information about products, materials, technology, and functionality.
• Uphold adidas customer service standards by listening to customers’ wants and needs and providing product information.
• Drive and close sales using adidas selling techniques and the in-store AOS system where available.
• Complete customer sales transactions, including cash, credit, and debit.
• Maintain store appearance, process and replenish merchandise, and assist with customer service inquiries.
• Maintain knowledge of adidas products, programs, promotions, advertising, and requirements.
• Support a respectful team environment and adhere to adidas brand values and Sales Associate competencies.
• Assist with telephone duties and follow inventory-control policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required by store management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Possess and consistently demonstrate competencies relative to the position.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos, and write simple correspondence.
• Present information effectively to customers and employees in individual and small-group situations.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations and use a point-of-sale system.
• Exercise good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, statutory holidays, and overtime during peak sales periods.
• Lift and move up to 12 kg frequently and up to 34 kg occasionally.
• Be proficient in English and French, verbally and in writing.

Qualifications

• Must have or be pursuing a high school diploma or GED.
• Three to six months of retail experience is preferred.
