Purpose

Drive store profitability by meeting or exceeding store sales and profit targets. Manage all resources within the store to provide customers with a leading shopping experience and drive the proper execution of established policies, procedures, initiatives, and directives.

Key Accountabilities

You lead, coach, and develop. Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development efforts in the store through partnership with HR, Talent Acquisition, and Retail Training. Motivate and inspire Assistant Store Managers to accomplish store goals and maximize individual performance. Create a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, analyzing performance, and providing appropriate and prompt feedback, including actively managing poor performance. Work with the District Manager to identify and develop strong performers with potential for growth. Complete Store Manager training programs and apply the learning on the job. Seek coaching and learning opportunities to continually improve performance. Deliver best-practice implementation to drive collective performance across district stores. Ensure compliance with established HR policies and procedures.

You lead a service culture. Drive a service and selling culture through leadership of the adidas Group service model. Lead service by example, maximizing time spent selling and leading team members on the sales floor. Ensure a leader is always on duty on the sales floor. Schedule and zone employees to prioritize consumer service and sales. Analyze Net Promoter Score results and communicate them to the team to drive continuous service improvement. Optimize the consumer experience through digital initiatives including ship-from-store, click and collect, and Store Associate Mobile programs.

You lead store operations. Lead store operations systematically and efficiently according to established adidas Retail Operating Rhythms. Ensure compliance with adidas Retail Management Standards and established policies, procedures, initiatives, and directives. Ensure merchandise deliveries are processed the same day they arrive and that the complete product offer is available and accessible to customers. Ensure cash-wrap transactions are processed quickly and accurately. Lead relevant change-management initiatives. Assess and recommend improvements to product availability and commercial viability. Implement loss-prevention, health, and safety policies and procedures.

You lead brand and product expertise. Act as a Brand Ambassador and consistently exhibit adidas Brand Attitude and Values. Demonstrate passion for sport, culture, and community. Ensure Retail Experience, Visual Excellence, and In-Store Communication standards are implemented and maintained. Partner with the District Manager and Retail Training to deliver product training and learning programs.

You lead store profitability. Take ownership of the store and its commercial success. Analyze relevant data with the District Manager, drive continuous improvement in sales, productivity, and profitability, ensure legal and financial integrity, and maintain a safe and productive shopping and working environment.

Knowledge, Capabilities, and Experience

  • Strong skills operating personal computers, POS systems, and software including Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of profit-and-loss statements and store KPIs.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time-management, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and maintain high performance standards.
  • Ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write English.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to travel domestically by car and air.

Physical Requirements

The role requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands, occasional climbing, balancing, sitting, and bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Employees may work 10–12 hours per day during peak seasonal periods.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Four-year college or university degree in business, retail management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 18 months of experience in a sports or fashion customer- and commercial-focused retail environment, including at least 12 months of store management or assistant management experience.
