Tasks and objectives
As the Procurement buyer of EE, ADAS & Digital commodity, you will demonstrate team performance and provide leadership to coordinate and influence the team toward the best contribution. You will be the central contact for commercial and sourcing activities for local projects, working with development, product, cost engineering, RD, quality, legal and joint-venture partners.
You will ensure the creation of RFQs by collecting comprehensive input from internal partners. You will visit potential suppliers, develop and align sourcing strategies, lead negotiations, support nominations and contracts, and create a local market map of Chinese suppliers, including their technical trends and capabilities. The market research will also support Mercedes-Benz global sourcing activities.
Job description
- Lead Mercedes-Benz procurement tasks for EE, ADAS and digital commodities, including supplier development, strategy alignment, nominations and contracts for supplier-base optimization.
- Lead communication with joint-venture purchasing, operations and cost-control departments, engineering and other project-related departments for sourcing, cost optimization, contract negotiation and change management.
- Communicate with suppliers, handle complex issues, hold technical workshops and discuss technically driven issues with engineers in China from a purchasing perspective.
- Manage, screen and evaluate suppliers and drive continuous improvement of purchasing processes.
- Prepare and present decision and sourcing documents to management meetings.
- Lead the commodity-team function and coach team members through knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in automotive, engineering, management or administration.
- At least two years of experience in procurement-related fields. Experience with electronics or digital components at OEMs or high-tech companies is preferred.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and supplier-part cost structures. Understanding of markets and technologies for automotive EE parts and related electronic or mechanical components is preferred.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work actively under pressure.
- Proven problem-solving capability and experience leading people.
- Self-motivation, a proactive approach, quick learning ability and agility.
- Strong teamwork skills for working with multiple internal stakeholders.
- Excellent spoken and written English; German reading, writing and speaking ability is preferred.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong capability in market-intelligence research using AI tools.
