Bull, part of Atos and Eviden, designs powerful, sustainable, and sovereign digital solutions for governments and industry. Its R&D center in Les Clayes-sous-Bois develops and industrializes high-performance, robust, and reliable servers for demanding customers, including HPC supercomputers, AI systems, and high-memory enterprise servers.

As Principal Hardware Server Architect, you will lead the definition of Bull's future servers, considering energy efficiency, security, reliability, performance, and cost. You will contribute to Bull's medium-term roadmap using expertise in CPUs, GPUs, interconnect switches, infrastructure, and advanced technology programs from major suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preliminary studies for servers and computing racks with experts in France and internationally.
  • Propose concepts for future computing nodes, chassis, and racks, and define new architectures while contributing to micro-architecture.
  • Write and maintain server architecture specifications and requirements for development, integration, verification, and validation teams.
  • Monitor target-market servers, emerging architectures, and technologies.
  • Engage with partners, assess advanced technology programs, attend international conferences, and guide product evolution.
  • Work with European experts on projects funded by the European Union.

Profile

  • University education at master's level or a doctorate from an engineering school or university.
  • At least 10 years of experience in an R&D development or systems engineering team, ideally with a computer equipment, telecommunications, or complex electronic systems manufacturer.
  • Expertise in server technologies including CPU, GPU, FPGA, CPLD, DDR5, PCIe or NVLink high-speed links, PCIe switches, power distribution, and cooling.
  • Expertise in high-speed networks including Ethernet or InfiniBand, NICs, switches, and network topologies such as fat tree, Dragonfly+, and optimized rail.
  • Experience using a requirements management tool.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
