How you’ll play your part

Work directly with finance stakeholders to understand reporting needs, shape requirements, build robust data models and deliver Power BI dashboards adopted by the business. Use data from multiple sources to create and enhance Power BI reports, semantic models and reusable reporting structures, while supporting the migration of legacy Cognos reporting into Power BI.

The role also includes training and user support, mentoring a Data Apprentice, and sharing BI development knowledge across the Finance and Management Information community.

Main accountabilities

• Partner with Finance and Controlling stakeholders to define reporting needs, requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Design, build, test and deploy Power BI dashboards, reports and semantic models.
• Create accurate, reusable and governed DAX measures, calculations, KPIs and common data elements.
• Connect to data sources including Databricks, SQL, data lakes, data warehouses and Excel.
• Apply data validation, reconciliation, unit testing and troubleshooting before release.
• Document data sources, model logic, measures, definitions and usage guidance.
• Promote adoption of relevant Head Office Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
• Support the migration and modernisation of legacy Cognos reports.
• Mentor one Data Apprentice and share Power BI knowledge across the Finance and MI community.

About you

You should have strong hands-on experience developing Power BI dashboards, reports and semantic models, advanced DAX capability, robust data-modelling experience and strong SQL skills. Working knowledge of Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure data lake or similar technologies, advanced Excel capability, and an understanding of data quality, testing, documentation and reporting governance are required.

Experience with Power BI Service, Power Query, Power Automate, Power Pivot, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, data warehouses, dimensional modelling, ETL or ELT frameworks and Cognos is desirable. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, analytical, organisational and coaching skills are also important.
