Purpose

Platform Engineering designs, builds and operates the platforms application teams rely on. The goal is to help teams spend more time on business value by increasing velocity and reducing time to market, while scaling the enterprise on shared, secure and well-engineered platforms and services.

As a Platform Engineer, you will work on capabilities supporting areas such as CI/CD, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, observability, testing, APIs, streaming, AI engineering, developer productivity and automation. You do not need to be an expert in every area; strong experience in one or more platform domains is valued.

Key Accountabilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of platform epics and initiatives, from requirements and solution design through implementation and operation.
  • Design, code, test, document and refactor complex software using appropriate engineering standards and tools.
  • Propose and implement technical improvements covering monitoring, stability, reliability and operability while balancing impact and cost.
  • Build and operate reliable platforms, define and track SLAs and SLOs, reduce incidents and toil, and automate operational work.
  • Lead peer code reviews and contribute to the technical roadmap in collaboration with the platform owner.
  • Coordinate delivery of complex work with stakeholders across teams.
  • Mentor colleagues, onboard new team members and contribute to communities of practice.

What We Are Looking For

  • College or university degree in IT, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Approximately five years of IT experience across the full product development lifecycle, including building and operating production services.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, testing, code review and maintainability.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one modern programming language such as Go, TypeScript/Node.js or Java/Spring Boot.
  • Cloud-native foundations including containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD and a major cloud provider, preferably AWS.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions or Helm.
  • An observability and operability mindset covering metrics, logs, traces, alerting and incident response.
  • A DevOps mindset with ownership from development and testing through deployment and operation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with written and spoken English proficiency.

Areas of Specialisation

Relevant experience may include CI/CD, Kubernetes, observability, testing and QA, machine learning, APIs, streaming, cloud or AI engineering. Technologies mentioned include GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana, Instana, OpenTelemetry, Kafka, SQS, Terraform, REST, gRPC, GraphQL, AWS and MLOps tooling.

Mindset and Ways of Working

  • Ownership and follow-through.
  • Courage to speak up and constructively challenge the status quo.
  • Innovation, curiosity and continuous learning.
  • Team play, integrity, respect and inclusive collaboration.
  • A growth mindset focused on adaptability.

What We Offer

  • A culture centered on digital transformation, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Development opportunities, training and a technology community.
  • A highly engaged multinational environment with international career opportunities.
  • Hybrid work setup with a flexible remote environment, 40% weekly within Spain, combined with onsite facilities and culture.
  • Competitive salary, benefits and discounts on adidas products.
