Optical Network Engineer

At Capgemini Engineering, we are seeking a highly skilled Optical Network Engineer with expertise in optical technologies and hands-on experience with Ciena equipment. The role involves network software upgrades, network audits, and technical support.

Your role

• Perform network software upgrades on Ciena devices, including OME6500, RLS, and Waveserver.
• Conduct customer network audits and assessments and prepare MOP (Method of Procedure) documents.
• Work with the Project Management team and provide daily progress reports.
• Maintain project documents, daily status reports, and project closing documents.
• Address upgrade-related issues and alarms and provide resolutions to customers.
• Prepare prerequisites for software upgrades in advance.
• Coordinate with customers before and after activities to validate the status of upgraded devices.

Your profile

• BE, BTech, BSc in Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications, or an equivalent bachelor's degree.
• Related certifications are an added benefit.
• Sound optical networking knowledge and deep understanding of OTN, DWDM, and MPLS.
• Working experience with Site Manager and MCP/Navigator.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for faults and issues.
• Ability to work independently on a 24/7 maintenance platform.
• Ability to build strong relationships with peers and internal and external customers.
• Hands-on experience with Ciena equipment, transmission devices, or a NOC environment is advantageous.
• Strong practical problem-solving, written communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
