About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to build, maintain, and optimize high-concurrency backend systems for client projects. You will own features end-to-end, from technical design to deployment, using modern async Python, strict type-safety, and AI-assisted workflows.
What You Will Do
- Own backend features end-to-end from schema design and API endpoints to production deployment.
- Write clean, well-tested async Python code, including FastAPI, and apply modern type-safety practices.
- Integrate backend services with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy or SQLModel, caching layers, and asynchronous message queues.
- Use AI-assisted workflows such as Cursor and GitHub Copilot to prototype, write boilerplate, expand test coverage, and debug faster.
- Write automated tests, optimize query performance, and ensure production reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional squads and client teams on technical specifications, code reviews, and iterative delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Python 3.11+, asyncio, typing, and REST API frameworks such as FastAPI.
- Practical experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and efficient SQL or ORM queries.
- Experience with automated testing using pytest, code quality, structured logging, and Git-based workflows.
- Experience shipping production code, using Docker, and understanding basic deployment processes.
- Professional English fluency and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI coding tools or openness to using them.
- Knowledge of AI or LLM components, LangChain, or vector databases.
- Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, cloud platforms, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with uv, Poetry, Ruff, or similar tools.
- German language skills at B2 level or above.
