Job Summary

Directs the forecasting, receipt, storage, and movement of all material goods. Through subordinate supervisors, coordinates with other departments to ensure the timely flow of materials within an established timeframe. Coordinates the availability of NAFTA-sourced and European import parts, optimizes packaging topics, and steers and optimizes the JIS supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate material planning team members on parts availability involving local and international suppliers.
  • Provide guidance and support for the ramp-up of parts availability for the launch of the new Sprinter model.
  • Develop and monitor inventory control systems to ensure adequate supply and sufficient movement of materials.
  • Develop supplier relationships, plan and control procedures for procuring production parts, and establish parts-supply objectives.
  • Formulate and implement supply chain strategies with suppliers, including delivery coordination and countermeasure plans.
  • Respond to production and quality inquiries regarding supplier issues and production-parts availability.
  • Monitor material-management audits and provide alternate plans for abnormal conditions such as supplier work stoppages, shortages, rejections, and changing priorities.
  • Develop and implement materials-handling procedures while optimizing resources, costs, timeliness, reliability, and safety.
  • Coordinate materials-handling activities with production schedules, orders, and organizational demand.
  • Lead direct reports, define performance goals, conduct reviews, and support employee development and qualification.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics or a related Engineering field.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience managing teams in a lean manufacturing environment and in Supply Chain Management and/or Supplier Quality.
  • Knowledge of logistics, procurement, order management, supplier development, supplier quality, and parts-supplier processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical skills and knowledge of problem-solving techniques and tools.
  • Disciplined, objective, and detail-oriented.
