Note: This individual will work on the Weekend (R) Shift schedule. Working days and hours are Friday to Sunday, 7:00am–7:30pm.
Purpose
The Operations Manager is a member of the Spartanburg, SC Distribution Leadership Team and has 24/7 ownership of a functional area within one of the Distribution Centers. This position supports adidas’ Wholesale, Retail, and e-Commerce channels by optimizing Distribution Center operations, improving operational metrics, refining processes, and removing waste.
The successful candidate will have good business judgment, supply chain experience, strong collaborative and cross-functional skills, and a proven track record of delivering results in a Lean or Continuous Improvement environment. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, people management skills, attention to detail, and effective prioritization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a Distribution Center operations area and be accountable for safety, quality, service, cost, cash, and people metrics.
- Foster a culture of engagement and bias for action.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve customer service and compliance with customer expectations.
- Represent adidas interests while directing third-party providers of labor and services.
- Hire, train, and manage the Distribution Center management team and associates.
- Manage standard documentation, training, and qualification for appropriate skill matrices.
- Report operational metrics and participate in developing the departmental operational budget.
- Manage inventory transaction collection, reporting, and feedback using SAP, Excel queries, and WMS reporting.
- Maintain working knowledge of Distribution Center systems and platforms and support operations and IT staff as needed.
- Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders in Spartanburg and across NAM DC Operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in high-volume, fast-paced operations with direct ownership of end-user consumer experience.
- Experience with Lean or World Class Manufacturing principles and tools.
- Effective leadership of managers and supervisors.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to transition between strategic and tactical thinking.
- Strong planning, organization, analytical, and data manipulation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to walk and stand extensively on hard surfaces.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four-year college or university degree; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of five years of related industry experience and/or training.
- Strong experience managing complex manufacturing or Distribution Center operations and leading process improvement projects.
- Fluency in English, both oral and written.
