Job Overview
Leads the development and implementation of manual and automated production systems. Takes ownership of their area of responsibility by ensuring volume and cost goals and high quality standards are met while providing a safe working environment for all employees. Assists with implementation of new production technologies and is responsible for analyzing and strategically planning technical and process developments.
Responsibilities
- Defines budgets and scheduling; tracks budget achievement and costs.
- Contributes to the development of implementation strategies.
- Oversees the development and implementation of new production technologies and ensures continued process improvements.
- Manages personnel, machinery, and materials efficiently to guarantee on-time delivery and compliance with budget.
- Works closely with different departments on the development and implementation of production processes.
- Manages projects and collaborates with project managers on optimization of plant utilization.
- Ensures that expected safety, quality, quantity, and production deadlines are met.
- Implements lean manufacturing concepts to achieve goals.
- Ensures compliance with product-specific and plant-specific environmental concerns and government regulations.
- Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, directives, and work agreements.
- Leads regularly scheduled area-of-responsibility team meetings and participates in Assembly meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisor Responsibilities
Supervises 2–3 group leaders as direct reports and 150–250 indirect reports. Leads employees in line with organizational culture, values, and guidelines; defines performance goals; conducts performance reviews; communicates effectively and engages employees to meet objectives; and is responsible for employee development and qualification.
Financial Responsibilities
Plans and manages the budget for the associated area, manages budget and personnel allocation efficiently, and communicates budget distribution and cost-saving processes to colleagues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience in planning, development, and implementation of production processes and technologies.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Internal candidates require completed PV-44.
Knowledge and Skills
- Extensive knowledge of assembly shop systems.
- Excellent knowledge of lean manufacturing and its application in a modern work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in an intercultural, fast-paced, changing, and growing environment.
