About the role
As a Maintenance Planner in Packaging, you will be an integral part of the engineering team on site in Hereford, ensuring that engineering maintenance plans are completed OTIF and packaging lines run efficiently. This role is crucial in ensuring HEINEKEN’s Packaging assets operate reliably, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and company standards.
You will develop, coordinate, and monitor corrective and preventive engineering maintenance plans, support compliance and budget control, and drive continuous improvement across the site.
Key responsibilities
- Create and communicate weekly maintenance schedules for APM days, engineering and CILT days, and other packaging maintenance windows based on line priorities.
- Plan and execute annual shutdown plans to reduce packaging unplanned downtime, using the packaging engineering team and contractors.
- Monitor and report daily and weekly unplanned downtime trends to schedule maintenance work according to priorities.
- Support significant breakdowns by coordinating planning, resources, contractors, parts, and follow-up work.
- Support TPM deployment and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, AM steps 0–5, RCFAs, centrelining, and Kaizens.
- Monitor and report repair and maintenance costs against budget, highlighting risks and opportunities to Maintenance Managers.
- Track and report KPIs such as APM day effectiveness and CMMS usage to support performance targets and audits.
- Collaborate with site stakeholders and external contractors to resolve maintenance planning obstacles.
- Optimise spare parts and repairable stock management with the onsite stores team, other HEINEKEN sites, and the maintenance HUB.
- Act as the subject matter expert for the CMMS system, currently SAP and moving to Maximo.
Who we’re looking for
- Time served as an engineer with a recognised qualification such as an apprenticeship, HNC, HND, or degree, ideally with a formal safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
- Three to four years’ experience using a CMMS, preferably SAP PM, in an engineering or FMCG environment.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Prior exposure to process or packaging operations and continuous improvement methods such as LEAN, TPM, or general CI methodologies.
