Maintenance Apprenticeship

Job Overview

The Apprentice will attend school to study Mechatronics while working in the shops, shadowing technicians and performing basic maintenance tasks and repairs to gain skills for future responsibilities. Responsibilities may include preventive maintenance and project work. This is a learning role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Shadow Multi-Craft Maintenance Technicians to learn equipment and repairs.
• Assist departments with maintenance-related tasks to support business needs.
• Perform daily equipment checks and inspections.
• Complete preventive maintenance as required.
• Manage small projects as needed.
• Participate in regularly scheduled meetings.
• Attend training classes at ECPI during business hours.
• Interact with and assist team members by following defined procedures and solutions.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma or GED, plus experience working in a manufacturing environment and a general mechanical/electrical understanding.
• Indirect relevant experience includes working toward a related degree or certification.
• Must be a Mercedes-Benz Vans team member with at least 90 days of service and be in good standing, with no corrective actions or attendance issues above a written warning.
• Must pass the school entrance exam with a score of 80% or higher.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes some weekends for preventive maintenance and projects.
• Must be willing to work any shift or shop after successfully completing the program, as determined by business needs.

Knowledge and Skills

• Perform repair work, including necessary disassembly and reassembly of production equipment.
• Perform equipment preventive maintenance tasks according to manufacturer-recommended specifications.
• Maintain repair and maintenance records.
• Conduct daily equipment checks and monitor production equipment performance.
• Interact with and support associates within assigned production areas.
• Procure operating materials, equipment, and service providers.
• Perform other duties required to support business needs.
• Basic computer skills required.
