Lead Software Engineer

NIKE, Inc. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to help build and support its Kubernetes platform within Nike Platform Engine (NPE). You will work with platform engineers and product and engineering leadership to design solutions, break down epics, document and present technology decisions, and influence teams across the organization.

Who We Are Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced practitioner who can write code and accomplish work through others. The role requires experience developing and deploying distributed systems to the cloud in an enterprise environment.

Minimum qualifications:

• 6+ years of professional software development experience
• 2+ years operating Kubernetes-based solutions in production
• Experience designing and developing large-scale distributed systems on public cloud computing platforms
• Demonstrated experience in technical leadership and setting technical direction for engineering projects
• Strong understanding of networking protocols and layers

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience developing Kubernetes controllers in Golang
• Experience leveraging ArgoCD or similar tools to implement GitOps
• Ability to create abstracted solutions that do not rely on any cloud service provider
• Ability to navigate governance and compliance requirements of global platforms
• Passion for delighting enterprise customers and understanding of enterprise workloads

What You’ll Work On

You will lead the design and development of a Kubernetes-based foundational platform. You will build custom controllers, Crossplane providers, and GitOps deployments of CNCF components, while providing technical coaching to less experienced engineers.

You will adopt, implement, and promote best-in-class principles for security, observability, availability, and reliability. You will also contribute to ways of working, development standards, training, and hiring.
