Atos is seeking an experienced Lead Software Developer to join a public sector account. This client-facing role involves regular interaction with stakeholders, delivery teams, and subcontractor partners. You will join an established agile delivery team and lead the delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient digital services supporting critical public sector outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable full-stack solutions.
- Provide technical direction, coaching, and mentoring to engineers.
- Promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive technical decision-making and support technology selection.
- Champion DevOps, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
- Plan and lead implementation of complex features and user stories.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, business analysts, testers, and client stakeholders.
- Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, technical design, release planning, deployment, and production support.
- Take responsibility for production services and improve robustness, resilience, observability, performance, and operational stability.
- Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive root cause analysis.
- Build relationships with stakeholders and delivery partners and communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience developing cloud-native applications using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Strong full-stack software development and modern engineering practices.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with AWS services including Lambda, SQS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, relational database design, data modelling, performance optimisation, and database management.
- Experience integrating services across complex enterprise environments.
- Experience working in Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams with strong client-facing communication skills.
- Experience using Jira, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Figma.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Scala and/or Java development.
- Experience delivering services within UK public sector or Government Digital Service environments.
- Familiarity with Government Technology Code of Practice and Service Standards.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, observability, and operational support.
- Experience leading distributed or multi-supplier teams.
