Purpose
Supports the operations leadership team by contributing to labor allocation, leading meetings, assigning job duties, coaching for success, creating a safe and collaborative work environment, and driving process improvement. The role is highly technical and requires strong problem-solving skills. Leads work closely with department supervisors to monitor workflows, manage dwells, and drive overall shift performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Operations Supervisor to lead a team of up to 50 hourly associates.
- Use warehouse tools, including radio frequency handheld units and computer kiosks, to update transactions within the warehouse management system and log activities in the Labor Management module.
- Follow and model standard operating procedures.
- Train and coach associates to achieve operational goals and service levels.
- Mentor and develop teammates for current and future career opportunities.
- Develop and share best practices.
- Foster a positive team environment that encourages feedback and process improvement.
- Help maintain a safe and orderly working environment.
- Identify, report, and follow up on property damage or safety concerns.
- Participate in Lean Six Sigma activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to collaborate within a large group of coworkers.
- Positive and enthusiastic approach.
- Strong knowledge of distribution center operations, storage methods, and material flow.
- Performance- and metrics-driven mindset.
- Experience with Excel, Outlook, Word, and warehouse management system principles.
Essential Functions
- Work in a warehouse environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Stand, walk, sit, and perform physical tasks for up to 12 hours per day.
- Occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Occasionally lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work safely on elevated surfaces, including a second-level mezzanine.
- Reliably attend scheduled work hours.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of two years of related distribution experience and/or training.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
