Atos is seeking an experienced Java Backend Lead with 14 years of experience to lead backend architecture, design, and development initiatives. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, ensure high-quality code delivery, and drive the successful execution of large-scale enterprise projects.
What will you be doing
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable backend solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development teams.
- Drive technical decision-making and establish engineering best practices.
- Ensure code quality through reviews, standards enforcement, and mentoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Support performance optimization, scalability, reliability, and security initiatives.
- Drive successful project delivery within Agile environments.
Required Technical Skills
- Core backend technologies: Core Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs.
- Advanced backend development: Vert.x, reactive programming, distributed systems.
- Software design and architecture: Object-oriented programming, design patterns, system design principles, enterprise application architecture.
- Databases: Oracle Database, MySQL, Cassandra, and other NoSQL databases.
- Cloud technologies: Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure.
- DevOps and engineering practices: CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, code reviews, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Development methodologies: Agile methodology, SDLC, TDD, and BDD.

- Proven experience leading software engineering teams.
- Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities.
- Ability to drive technical strategy and architectural decisions.
- Experience managing stakeholder expectations and project deliverables.

- Previous experience working with American Express projects or environments.
- Knowledge of the OneAMEX platform, processes, or ecosystem.
- Experience building highly scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications.
- Exposure to large-scale financial services or payment processing systems.
Compensation and Benefits
The total compensation range for this role is $90,000–$110,000 USD.
