Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. is seeking an international student intern to support digitalization and automation initiatives in Paint Shop operations at its Tuscaloosa, Alabama facility.

Essential Functions

  • Support the review and implementation of digital systems for Paint Shop operations.
  • Collaborate with existing teams to develop solutions that improve operational transparency and visibility.
  • Create and enhance Power BI and Ignition visualizations for production and business processes.
  • Develop reporting and visualization tools for cost, cycle time, fault, OEE, and quality metrics.
  • Support digitalization initiatives that improve process monitoring and decision-making.
  • Assist with the implementation and evaluation of AI-supported tools and systems within Paint Shop operations.

Other Regular Daily Tasks

  • Participate in daily status reviews, strategy meetings, and workshops.
  • Participate in preparation for management presentations and walk-throughs.
  • Participate in shop walks and Continuous Improvement activities.

Qualifications

Applicants must be students in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related area, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required skills include business and data analytics, process overview and setup, and knowledge of Power BI, Excel, and databases. Programming or coding experience is also required.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in university or in a gap year between a Bachelor's and Master's degree.
  • Studies outside the United States; applications from students currently studying in the United States are not accepted.
  • A minimum of three semesters of study in a relevant field.
  • Availability for a minimum of six months.

Internship Details

  • Preferred start date: February 2027.
  • Paid internship with an hourly rate of $18.
  • Coverage of visa costs.
  • $700 housing bonus.
