Tasks

Mercedes-Benz is hiring an intern to support quality and problem-solving activities at its Tuscaloosa, Alabama manufacturing site.

  • Build a statistics database using Power BI from Quality Inspection data.
  • Analyze 8D/3D problem-solving methods and identify the best display methods.
  • Serve as a Problem Solving Trainer for other groups.
  • Support problem resolutions.
  • Support escalation of quality topics to quality forums.
  • Support implementation of quality checks into offline quality inspections.
  • Support complex problem solving for legacy topics.
  • Build and modify Power BI dashboards to improve user-friendliness and overall performance.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related area, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Preferred skills include engineering problem solving, Microsoft computer knowledge, vehicle systems and terminology, standard automotive production systems, root cause analysis, data analysis, automotive manufacturing, attention to detail, continuous improvement, cross-functional communication, Power BI, and statistical analysis.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in university or in a gap year between a bachelor's and master's degree.
  • Studies outside the USA.
  • At least three semesters of study in a relevant field.
  • Available for a minimum of six months.
