Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. is hiring an international student intern to support Chief Engineer Production activities at its Tuscaloosa, Alabama manufacturing site. The facility produces luxury SUV models, including electric vehicles, and operates alongside a battery production campus.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate product buildability points for a new type vehicle launch.
  • Utilize the Zeus tracking system to implement countermeasures required to achieve buildability in new type products.
  • Work with the CEP Hub and Research and Development to reduce product design complexity, commonize similar components, improve manufacturability, and reduce input costs.
  • Work with production support teams to identify major build concerns during ramp-up and series production and coordinate improvements with the CEP Hub and R&D.
  • Interface regularly with the Chief Engineer Production Hub in Sindelfingen, the global network, and Research and Development to identify and implement product improvements.
  • Use CAD software, including Smaragd and Engineering Client, for digital buildability confirmations.
  • Support the design and integration of tooling to promote better vehicle quality.

Other Regular Daily Tasks

  • Assist Chief Engineer Production management staff with special projects.
  • Assist with meeting coordination and scheduling for buildability-related meeting rounds.
  • Work on CAD design projects to create fixtures that improve vehicle fit and function.

Qualifications

Students must meet all education, experience, and skills requirements.

  • Currently studying Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • German language skills are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Mercedes-Benz applications such as Smaragd, Engineering Client, Dialog, or Zeus is preferred but not required.
  • CAD design skills.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at a university or in a gap year between a Bachelor's and Master's degree.
  • Studying outside the United States; applications from students currently studying in the United States are not accepted.
  • At least three semesters of study in a relevant field.
  • Availability for a minimum of six months.
