Objective of job

China is Mercedes-Benz’s most important and greatest market and is pushing massively towards electric mobility. Standards and regulations for new energy vehicles change rapidly. Within this fast-growing and developing business of Mercedes-Benz in China, the RDEB department is continuously developing. While series production for PHEVs and BEVs will soon be running under full steam, new electric products need to be implemented.

The HV Battery Safety position at Mercedes-Benz RD China is looking for a dynamic, dedicated, and versatile engineer in the Battery E/E team who will lead advanced projects and develop products that meet targets and comply with market regulations.

Key responsibilities

Function owner of high-voltage battery safety, including HVB safety specification, hardware and software design, validation, and issue analysis.
Local development or lifecycle management and support for HV harnesses, connectors, fuses, contactors, pre-charge-related parts, isolation measurement-related parts, and other HV components.
Support system-level validation, including HVS, EMC, LVPN, and HVPN.
Perform HV battery safety performance management, E/E system validation, and release.
Conduct HV battery safety issue pre-analysis and troubleshooting.
Work with the headquarters high-voltage battery team to build China processes and structures, troubleshoot issues, and exchange information.
Become familiar with all eDrive high-voltage system-related topics.
Work with cross-functional departments including product planning, quality, and logistics to establish project milestones and coordinate activities against tight schedules.
Complete other R&D and cross-functional tasks assigned by the team lead.

Qualifications

Education

Master’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

At least 2 years of high-voltage battery safety development and testing experience.
Automotive industry experience is preferred.

Specific knowledge

Solid fundamental knowledge of high-voltage batteries and strong practical ability.
Basic knowledge of HV battery safety development and experience with HV battery safety validation testing.
Familiarity with vehicle high-voltage systems and components such as batteries and charging systems.
Experience with oscilloscope and VNA troubleshooting.
Experience with diagnostic tools such as CANoe and DTS-Monaco.
Project management, planning, and organizational skills.
Native Chinese speaker with fluent English; German is preferred.
Intercultural competence and communication skills across hierarchy levels.
Willingness to travel within China and abroad.
Driving license.
