Head of Trading China, GMD

Position Summary

Responsible for trading local markets products with focus on FX and rates and non-linear products. Local markets refer to any currency derivative products approved by CBRC locally and to be dealt onshore in China. Lead the local market trading team in China.

Responsible for the trading team in China within the Global Markets Trading (GMT) division, including responsibility for team members, risk positions and results for the Asia Emerging Markets Trading Platform (EMTP) and FX Option, day-to-day conduct of business, and implementation of the EMTP business strategy in line with the bank.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy and Business Planning

• Formulate trading strategies daily by analyzing the latest market data and establishing positions to take advantage of market moves.
• Execute transactions accurately and in accordance with established risk management procedures and risk parameters.

2. Daily Trading and Administrative Responsibilities

• Price and execute all client transactions in the relevant market sector.
• Timely record and enter all transactions into front-office trading systems in line with applicable trading procedures.

3. Management and Reporting

• Ensure an adequate management structure is in place for trading and that responsibility for each activity is clearly established, communicated and accepted.
• Establish desk-level delegation and responsibility for P&L targets and risk management, and supervise desk profitability and risk management.

4. Control

• Coordinate and streamline operations and controls within the GMT environment and ensure they are adequate and documented.
• Ensure effective internal controls, including risk management, segregation of duties and reconciliation procedures, are established and monitored.

Requirements

• Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc/PhD/Doctorate) or equivalent.
• Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a mathematical or scientific area.
• Computer literate.
• CFETS trader qualification license for the CNY or FX market.
• Extensive experience managing teams, including people, systems, HR and sales.
• Experience in financial products, derivatives or related trading and risk-management activities.
• Understanding of Credit and Rates markets.
• CFETS FX and local currency license.
• Minimum experience: 11 years or more.
