Objective of Job
Support Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s strategic interests through external affairs activities, regulatory compliance, customs drawback and incentive processes, and communication with government agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders. The role supports the External Affairs Manager and team with regulatory monitoring, stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy, and regulatory, incentive, and compliance documentation.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and report on government policies, incentive schemes, and regulatory updates affecting the automotive industry.
- Assist with incentive programs and prepare submissions for Customized Incentives, the Industrial Linkage Program, Multi Sourcing Parts, CKD New Model approval, and AP applications.
- Coordinate with Product & Planning, Local Content, Production Logistics, and Controlling teams on required documentation.
- Monitor approval validity periods and initiate resubmission processes before expiry.
- Manage customs drawback and refund processes, including documentation, verification, claims, records, and audit readiness.
- Liaise with customs officials and relevant authorities to resolve issues and support inspections.
- Maintain relationships with government ministries, customs departments, and industry associations.
- Arrange and attend external meetings, complete compliance checks, and support public or regulatory forums.
- Communicate regulatory changes, industry trends, and government directives to internal stakeholders.
- Prepare policy analyses, management reports, presentations, meeting minutes, trackers, regulatory correspondence, and documentation for contracts and sponsorships.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum two years of experience in government liaison, regulatory affairs, or customs operations, preferably in automotive.
- Knowledge of customs drawback and refund processes, automotive policies, incentives, and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exposure to ASEAN automotive regulations and free trade agreements.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and time-management skills.
