SP Brewery has an immediate requirement for two Electrical Technicians based in Port Moresby, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The Electrical Technicians are responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment across the brewery.

The role supports production continuity through effective maintenance execution, fault diagnosis, equipment reliability improvement, continuous improvement, and adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Main Duties

  • Execute planned and unplanned maintenance on brewery electrical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults to minimize equipment downtime and production interruptions.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and test electrical motors, drives, switchgear, control panels, and related equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify defects, and carry out corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety requirements.
  • Support production teams by providing timely technical assistance and fault resolution.
  • Participate in TPM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance, OEE, MTTR, and MTBF.
  • Assist with electrical installations, upgrades, and improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and technical documentation within the CMMS system.
  • Work collaboratively with Mechanical, Utilities, Packaging, Brewing, and Quality teams to achieve operational targets.
  • Promote good housekeeping and maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Electrical License or eligibility to obtain one will be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, FMCG, utilities, or production environments is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, motor control circuits, power distribution, and industrial electrical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with variable speed drives, motors, MCCs, sensors, and control systems would be advantageous.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work shifts and respond to breakdown maintenance when required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
