Summary
The Head of Loan Review Americas is responsible for ensuring an independent and timely credit review of the loan portfolio booked in the US branches and offices of Crédit Agricole CIB. The role assesses credit risk ratings, loan documentation, collateral management, file tracking and compliance with risk policies and procedures, and produces reports for management in New York and Paris.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain credit risk loan review policies, procedures, methodologies, templates and credit write-up standards, taking US specificities into account.
- Identify staffing needs, hire and train department staff, and manage teams.
- Plan and execute annual loan review schedules and multi-year review programs, adjusting them for emerging risks.
- Coordinate reviews across Crédit Agricole CIB to optimize resources and expertise.
- Prioritize reviews according to portfolio risk assessment, review cycles, urgency and comprehensiveness.
- Deliver timely, high-quality reviews covering portfolio risk profiles, trends, obligor risk ratings, methodology and compliance with internal and external policies.
- Identify problem credits, loan policy exceptions and documentation issues, and escalate concerns to business lines, support groups and senior management.
- Document and circulate loan review programs and analyses, and ensure appropriate follow-up on recommendations.
- Maintain required schedules, records, memoranda and internal and external reports.
- Manage reporting to the CUSO CRO and the US Risk Committee.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
- MBA or CFA essential; credit certifications desirable.
- 10–15 years of experience in banking, credit analysis and restructuring, with a minimum experience level of 11 years and more.
- Extensive credit experience across multiple industries and specialized lending, including real estate, oil and gas, project finance, commercial and industrial loans, and large corporate lending.
- Experience with origination, documentation and restructuring, as well as management experience organizing teams.
- Strong analytical, judgment, communication, organization, presentation and management skills.
- Ability to work under time pressure.
